For domestic customers booking directly with Andrew Peckham, trading as AP Home Installations. Updated 2 October 2026. Blinds ordered through my Hillarys advisor service are supplied by Hillarys, and Hillarys’ own quotation, payment, deposit and cancellation terms apply. These AP Home Installations terms do not apply to bookings made with Hillarys, John Lewis or another company.
1. Quotes & bookings
Your written quote sets out the work, total price, any deposit, materials and agreed dates. Enquiries and preferred dates are requests only. A booking is agreed when you accept the quote and we confirm it in writing, subject to any stated deposit requirement. We provide the terms and relevant cancellation information before you agree.
2. Deposits & payment
For fitting jobs below £500, no deposit is normally required. A larger fitting job means a quoted total of £500 or more. For these jobs, a 20% deposit may be requested; the quote will state the amount before you book. Any separate advance payment for products or materials will also be agreed in writing. All advance payments count towards the total price. The remaining balance is due on completion, subject to your statutory rights if there is a problem with the work.
3. Changes & cancellations
Please give at least 48 hours’ notice to cancel or change an appointment. We will try to arrange another suitable date. Outside any statutory cancellation right, any charge will be limited to reasonable, evidenced losses directly caused by cancellation that we cannot recover after taking reasonable steps to reduce them. This may include committed material costs or lost net profit from an appointment we cannot refill. There is no automatic late-cancellation penalty and deposits are not automatically non-refundable. We explain any deduction and refund the excess.
4. Your cooling-off rights
Where the Consumer Contracts Regulations apply, you generally have 14 days to cancel a distance or off-premises contract without giving a reason. For service-only contracts, the period runs from the day after the contract is made. For goods, including goods supplied with installation, it generally runs from the day after you receive the goods, subject to the applicable exceptions. Your booking confirmation explains the rights applying to your order. These rights take priority over our 48-hour appointment policy.
Tell us clearly by email, phone or post that you wish to cancel. You may use the cancellation wording below, but you do not have to. Where a statutory refund is due, we process it within the applicable legal deadline, normally 14 days after notice for services; goods returns can affect the refund timing.
5. Work within 14 days
Where a cooling-off period applies, we start a service during it only at your express request. For a contract agreed in your home, record that request in writing, for example by email. If you then cancel, you may owe a proportionate amount for work already supplied, provided we gave the required information. For service-only contracts, your cancellation right ends after full performance only if you requested the early start and acknowledged that consequence beforehand. A website enquiry alone does not waive your rights.
6. Made-to-measure goods
Goods genuinely made to your specifications or personalised can be excluded from the statutory change-of-mind cancellation right. We tell you before ordering if this applies and confirm the specifications and advance payment. This exception does not automatically apply to fitting-only services and does not remove your rights if goods are faulty, misdescribed or otherwise fail to meet the contract.
7. Access & preparation
Please provide safe access, clear the work area and have customer-supplied products and parts ready. Tell us about access restrictions and known issues with walls, windows or existing connections. If we cannot proceed because access or products are unavailable, we discuss a new visit and any reasonable, evidenced additional losses, subject to your statutory rights. We do not apply an automatic full-job charge.
8. Products, fixings & extra work
The quote states what is included, such as brackets, fixings, removal, disposal, cable routing or making good. Items outside the quote are not included unless agreed. We check suitability before proceeding and discuss missing parts, unsafe conditions or unsuitable customer-supplied products. We agree any additional price with you before extra work starts. You keep your rights against your product supplier, and we remain responsible for our own fitting work.
9. If we change your appointment
We contact you as soon as possible if we need to rearrange. If we cancel the job, you can choose another agreed date or receive a refund for work and goods we will not provide. This does not limit any other legal remedy you may have.
10. Workmanship & complaints
We carry out services with reasonable care and skill. Please report a concern to andy@aphomeinstallations.uk or 07872 012462, with your booking details and photos if helpful. We investigate and discuss an appropriate remedy, including repeat performance or a price reduction where legally required. No reporting deadline in these terms restricts your statutory rights. Nothing here excludes liability that the law does not allow us to exclude.
